Michael is an orchestral, chamber, and recording musician performing and teaching in Chicago. He got started playing violin through the public school system and went on to earn a bachelors from the University of Utah and a Masters from the Chicago College of performing arts at Roosevelt University. He studied with Leonard Brauss, John England, and Dr. Kasia Sokol-Borup, MingHuan Xu, and Almita Vamos

Outside classical music, he has performed in collaboration with poets, rap artists, dancers and experimental ensembles. In 2015, he helped found the post rock group, Hoofless with long time collaborator and composer Halee Jean. Together they toured the western united states, released an album, and performed in a wide range of venues from local bars and DIY basement shows, to University Lectures and concert stages.

A proponent of contemporary music, he enjoys working with living composers in the Chicago area and abroad to bring new music to audiences. He recently appeared with Chicago’s 5th wave ensemble. He is a passionate teacher, and enjoys seeing his students thrive and connect with a life long love of music. When not teaching or performing, Michael enjoys long walks in nature and quality time with friends and family.
